I know I’m not alone in saying 2021 was an absolute botch job.

I almost lost my best friend- my mama, held her hand in the hospital for more hours, weeks, and months than I can count, I lost my favorite dog, mourned alongside some of my closest friends as they experienced heartbreaking loss, moved again, faced a great deal of uncertainty in every area of life, and did so all while my husband was across the US for work.

But intertwined within all of the bad there was an immense amount of good. Strengthening family bonds, celebrating unexpected recovery, adding a new pup to the squad, learning to ask for help, deepening friendships, letting go of others & making some new ones, working through growing pains, spending time on hobbies, and most importantly, I learned empathy and compassion. I wouldn’t trade those lessons for the world.

Who knows what 2022 will bring, but I’ll always go back to this: count your blessings, and try to remember, we haven’t lost control of our lives, we’ve lost the illusion we were ever in control to begin with and in turn, been given an opportunity to upgrade our perspective.

Sending you hugs and cheers as we enter the new year! We got this! ✨
